Happy New Year to all ScT Members

We hope you enjoyed the Free Leech and buffered up those ratios for another 2008 packed full of great releases here at SceneTorrents.

"End of Free Leech? Boo" we here you say. Well, we're gonna try and turn those frowns upside down

As of 00:00GMT tonight (when Free Leech ends) the download multiplier will be set to 0.75, permanently.

Put simply: ONLY 3/4 OF WHAT YOU DOWNLOAD IS COUNTED

We hope this encourages more activity and helps users out who feel they can only afford to download during Free Leech periods.

So, not a bad start huh, oh wait...still unhappy about Free Leech ending? Hmm...how does; 10GB of Upload Credit for EVERY user sound?

We hope that gets 2008 off to a flying start for all our users, almost 17,000 of them...

:hmmm: 17,000 members, I wonder if...yeah why not!

The userbase will also open up to 20,0000 users at 00:00GMT tonight too.

But how do we fill those spaces? 1 invite for every Power User and above? Sounds good to me!

So for anyone too excited to take all that in;

* Only 3/4 of what you download will be counted towards your ratio from now on

* 10GB of Upload Credit for every user

* Power Users and above each get 1 invite

May we please remind people that the Rules still apply.
eg You must still seed to 1:1 ratio, or at least 72hours. Trading invites/accounts will get you an immediate ban, be warned.
P.S. We banned Poland and Israel with IP bans, and from now on they will no longer to signup as unfortunately they cause more hassle with cheating that it's worth.

sct faced their current overseeding problem with a right response.

by doing this they made a great step forward being the number one private torrent site for scene releases.

when it comes to content sct is already hard to beat. no other tracker offers a better and faster variety of scene content today.

the next thing i would like to see is some work on the community aspect.

the forum does need better moderation. the forum structure as itself is ok, but i read posts there that are simply not tolerable.

if sct staff manages to combine the fantastic tracker with a better moderated forum no other site (with a comparable user base) will beat them.

What's wrong with the forums? It's a bad thing that we allow people to run more freely? It's internet, you shouldn't care so much. There's LOADS of people thanking us for having open minded forums.

They are not interested in their forums, they only want to deal with you and I on IRC, which is a pity, so the forums are left to fester & rot and no-one with any authority takes an interest in what goes on there, so we are left with kids running kids on a forum - not a good mix.

Oooff... I have yet to see a ScT-thread without basing from FTN staffers / ex-staffers, and vica verca.. It's always starting off at the right foot, then something just.. magically changes the entire topic, with ScT mods 'n admins defending and bashing FTN staffers who are doing the same..

*sigh*, can't FTN and ScT make a new year's resolution* to solve matters in peace?
