No protocol ever disappears forever, and the only reason this is taking place is because of the raids, and security issues the TPB team have had to endure. Sure was a great place. I found there gems that even demonoid couldn't provide.

the problem I have is torrents I want to get at a later time.

for something you intend to get right away, magnet link is no problem

but for example, now I can get the torrent for episode 1 of a mini-series, and begin the download when the series completes, even if the torrent site I got it from is down (because of DHT)

with magnet the download starts right away even when I tell it not to.

What are you talking about the protocol for? They're not even changing the protocol, let alone doing away with it.

For several years it has been possible to download torrents from swarms as well as from websites. All that has happened so far is that they've switched the positions of the icons on their web pages so that the swarm download option appears first. And all that is being suggested is that some day soon they will drop support for the secondary channel.

The site itself will continue to operate exactly as it has always done.

That's a fault with your torrent client or the process you're following. There is nothing about a magnet link which forces a torrent client to download it. And I use uTorrent and magnet links stop downloading when I click the Stop button just like any "normal" torrent.

What client (and version) are you using?
