Internet Gaming Cafes are really popular in Asian countries, where the average annual income is lower than in the US, but things like computers and video games still cost the same amount of money. For example, a high end gaming PC will run you, let's say roughly $1500. This obviously hurts the average American, who makes, say $40k, less than the average Taiwanese, who makes $30k. Therefore, internet cafes where you can play on a high-end system for a small hourly charge makes some sense in those countries.Indeed there is. I spend quite a lot of time in said world as well and surprisingly little in the house. To my point, I just haven't seen an internet cafe in around 10 years.
My firsthand experience is only in Taiwan, but an internet cafe will charge you roughly $1/hr to play.
