I finally got round to painting the chimney in my livingroom today.

It looked great, nice chocolate brown with a cream background.

As soon as the paint had dried I asked my boyfriend if he could please hang up the mirror with the gold frame.

Now there's a hole in my freshly painted wall, I can fit my finger in it and there's dust everywhere.

God knows what he used. he used a drill with a funny looking bit at the top.

Thing is, because it is an ACTUAL chimney, there's brick behind the plaster, and apparently it's not easy to drill into the things

He used a carbide bit, Skweeks.

Should be easy to slide in what is called a poly-lock that will accept a lag-type fastener to hang the mirror from.

Your finger can't be that big; I've got poly-locks up to 5/8" O.D. (is the hole that big?) that will accept a 1/8" threaded object...I hesitate to use the term screw when talking to you.

    Ignore these muppets.

He should have uesd a masonry bit to drill the hole. Then put a rawl plug in the hole to accept the picture hanger. Then the hanger into the plug.

You would expect a hun to understand masonry ffs.

Either that or welded the picture straight onto the brickwork.

Is a polylock the same as a rawl plug? Stick one of those in of the right size and tidy up the edges with polyfiller and touch it up with paint.

Do it yourself for sure next time.
This pump dispenses gasoline, a fossil fuel. People who believe fossils are not real should put something else in their tanks.
