most of the sites i'm a member of offer content, that is influenced or produced by the north american or west european culture.

80% of the content is mainstream american or european cinema, music or video games.

i noticed, that many people from totally different cultures and countries die to get on that trackers.

is it because it's their only chance to watch western media, which is not broadcasted in their country?

or is it the thrill to join a community that is totally different from their own real life and the social and religious circumstances they live in?

i guess it must be a culture shock for a 16yo arabian muslim to read and see a "official want to rape chicks" thread in a tracker forum.

on the other hand there seems to be a certain fascination even in the anti-american fundamentalist cultures for western life-style and media.

why do western trackers attract so many different cultures?

I think it's just plain curiosity, sparked by whatever personal motivation. I'm occasinally checking out new stuff on the Asian (mainly Japanese) P2P scene to see if there's anything of interest. This can range from TV shows to music DVDs to anything weird or unusual (by western standards).

We don't all think like that. A large percentage of the ScT user base including staff are very immature

Polarbear, its not because of the trackers, its beacuse of the influence of western culture all over the world in general. people have found it to the most appealing culture because of the kind of lifestyle that is depicted in movies and TV shows. besides having the worlds largest entertainment industry merely ensures that this culture is exhibited in each and every living room 24x7. torrent trackers is just another source for people to get more western culture media. besides, not many people join trackers for the community. i think we all know that by now

    Another angle is:

well, it perhaps has to do with the fact that there are a lot of foreigners but the only languages they probably understand are English and their mother tongue. So they probably have access to their native tongue trackers and since English is almost a worldwide language, so they can easily understand it than other languages ofcourse.

There are many countries that have very strict censorship on movies and tv shows. Some are outrightly banned ( I am not even referring to xxx movies). Trackers are the best source for those uncensored media.

When i was back in my country, i hunted for Japnease/ Chinease movies 10x more than American movies. And, i tell you that most of them barely even had kiss scene (sex, nudity, rape scene is way far) So, i think we should go one step further and say it's about curiousity (not limited to sex).

And as for why do non-westerners want to join western tracker? I think it is also about curiousity; curiousity towards...

Western society: it's hard to realize that there isn't any society at all

How people interact with each other: how they behave with each other and how they communicate. I think, tracker forum is a easy way to find how westerners interact with each other...meanwhile, non-westerners can learn non-formal language (that are not taught in their school) as "sup", slangs as f*ck, and abbr as STFU, OMG, LOL, WTF

There are bunch of African and Asian countries that ban pornography. Nudity, sex scene is far i heard some country prohibits media from showing belly button (for females). If you are raised on such community, only one "normal" western movie will take you to your sexual peak 100 times . Imagine what will happen when he actually views pron
