how can i get onto torrentleech?

i have a 100mbps line and my ratio for torrents from torrentspy/thepiratebay is horrible. It is around 4 or 5, nobody wants to share! ...I need to usually upload about 30 or 40 gigs for a 8 gig file...

heard torrentleech is a good site, so how do i get on it?

You could try Demonoid.com, it has open registrations every Monday or Friday not sure which one, once there build up your ratio and that will provide you with a good stepping stone when you need to prove good ratio/s for the better private sites

Try bitsoup.org, arenabg.com, araditracker etc. These are great private trackers with signups open generally. Also the pinned thread "Signups open" on top has some great trackers.
