    WinNT or Win9x?

gotta freind's laptop I'm workin on,
    and it's ancient.....
    P1 266MHz (I think)
    64 MB PC66 RAM

it obviously cant go past Win98
(well, it could take WinME, but I wouldn't do that to a friend)

if I remember right, WinNT needs a little less in the h/w specs....

    Windows 98 Second Edition.

Or... If it's really 266 MHz then you could run Windows 2000 with some more RAM.

See min req for Win2000: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...qs/default.asp

agree with 100% - put 98 on it, and then grab a copy of 98lite, and strip the crap from it. It will run much nicer

yeah.......you try finding PC66 w/o having to special order it

in fact, even if it was in shop, I may be hesitant, I can see it now:
customer: "Hey man I need some PC66."
clerk: "LMFAO! What are you gonna do? Make an alarm clock??!??!?!"

    specs:

    ThinkPad i Series 1400 2611-450

    P 266MMX (512KB)
    64MB RAM (PC66)
    4.3GB HDD
    13.3 XGA TFT
    20X CD-ROM
    56K(Int)
    Win98

You could use PC100 or even PC133.

Another option is to get some used RAM.

well, that's kinda what I was thinking,
that PC100/133 would be backwards compatable,
but had second thoughts lookin through IBM's site

meh. I know a guy locally that has used parts,
a whole feckin garage full of em
may go to him and see if he has something that'll fit
