Sony vegas is an extremely powerful vid editing software. the only thing i hate bout it is that divx and xvid don't work. u can't import videos of either encoding into it. this is the same for adobe premiere. is there a plugin out there or something for sony and/or adobe premiere to use divx and xvid? i searched on google w/o any good results

you can load Xvid files in Adobe Premiere but I dont think you can save a file using the xvid codec. you can always save as .avi and use another program to covert it to Xvid.

do you have both the encoding and decoding codecs installed for Xvid Divx?

lol. of course! i'm using the klite mega codec pack 1.37 with both divx and xvid encoding and decoding installed. i even tried installing xvid and divx separately (not from the codec pack), and they still don't work in vegas or premiere

looks like i found the solution:

so fourcc changer fixed the problem. apparently, sony vegas won't let me use divx if the 4cc is set to divx5. it has to be set to just divx.

this doesn't solve all my problems though. it still won't let me render as divx or xvid. it says error opening codec

EDIT: wow. seems like I just figured out why it won't let me encode in divx or xvid. apparently Sony Vegas doesn't work with Lame MP3 codec.

gotta find some way to fix that
