I was in Mary Port ( Dist, of Cumbrira ) many years ago tying to buy two orders of fish and chips but the kind lady thought I ment two peices of fish and chips ,this went on on for a few minuets till an old tea grannie behind me took pity on me and ordered for me .
Fish and chip twice please ! I felt stooopid but understood .
Ended up my lady friend and I spent the weekend renting a car and touring the Lake Dist, with the old dear. I'll never forget it .

Yes and no , My lady friend was a woman I met at a bed a breakfast in Blackpool and to this day I hate fried tomatoes if you get my drift .
I'd love to go back, nice people naive at the time but honest and hard working my kind of people . Every where I went just seem to remind me of home .
The pub had the same name as mine at home the Port Arms .
