Thread: Longhorn release date?

  1. #1
Does longhorn have a release date for both the beta version and the final version? Also is there a website out there that has up to date info on these kinds of things?

    THANKS

Yep, and right now it's just a slightly different XP with all the underpinnings for the new stuff....which isn't operational yet.
The install is nearly twice as large as XP Pro at 5.6GB after a fresh load.

Bits of the GUI are different (it's reskinned in black and the Start Button has the MS waving logo) and some folder options are in place, but the alledged new file system and 3d desktop are nowhere to be found.

Perhaps the next beta release will begin to enable some of the big new features that must be coming, but for now it's not worth running, IMO.

So like what time next year? Im looking to sell my computer and buy a new one with the new operating system, but if I have to wait like 6 months it may not be worth it, does next year mean january or like a year from now september 2006, any websites out there with more info on this kind of stuff?

No one knows. Why would you sell your computer. Just format and install the new operating system, no need for a new machine everytime your do an OS install.
