So is that ps2 boot disk a sham? The one that says no chip needed, or is it swap magic? Or worse a virus?

I also recommend a chip - had for 2years and its problem-free and you definitely recover your investment within a few months by getting 'cheap' games!!

Swap Magic will do the job too, It seems to be just as good as chipping your PS2.

my choice would be the matrix infinity chip no need to do anything different like some of the older chips just use your console like any normal machine and it will play any disc ps1 ps2 cd dvd but make sure that you get a realy good tech to mod your console and make sure that they connect wire 17 most leave this one out but it helps to stop your machine overheating
