im looking for a new hard drive. 80+ gigs is plenty. ive never installed one before. does any1 have a guide? also what are the advantages of having an external hdd? lastly, what are some good deals (prefrerably from newegg). this is the best deal ive found so far:

Well he did say 80+ gigs. I think its a better idea to buy a larger HD like the 300 gig. Cheaper for the gig.

The best rule is you can never have a big enough Hard drive go for the biggest you can afford you'll be surprised how quick you fill it

300gig is good but ur gona have a hard time backing it up and cataloging the files in it.

going for that 80gig myself $54 is pretty cheap to. 300gig looks tempting tho, that's a helluva lotta stuff you can hold.

80gb for $65??? that isn't a good price AT ALL anymore. it might have been a good price several months ago, but not now.

office depot is practically giving away 100gb drives at $20 (see the "rebate savings": $99.99 - $40 - $40 = $19.99).

anybody interested in it should move quickly 'cause the rebates are only valid on purchases made between 9/25/05 and 10/01/05, to customers within the 48 mainland states. supposedly maxtor exhausted their supply of 100gb drives, so some people have received 120gb drives in boxes labelled "100gb."
