The movie rewrites those episodes into much better closure. I agree the N/M continuation was lacking, especially in certain scenes where it almost seems like Near used divination to come up with some conclusions.

Neon Genesis Evangelion was the one that blew my mind when i was a kid... and still does! love it... Also liked Soul Eater, Karas and Full Metal Alchemist.

It also didn't feel like the world lived 5 years under Kira at that point. I recently rewatched this series, I'm still easily able to list this as one of my favorite TV shows, in the general category. I wasn't sold much with N's deductive arrivals either. Simply put, I feel like it was portrayed in too rushed a manner, he had much more time to work with the details compared to L's investigation.

You'll probably be able to guess from my username that my favorite anime is Ranma 1/2. Saw it as a kid, which in turn made me fall in love with all of Rumiko Takahashi's work. Though I am much more a fan of the manga then the anime.
