WCW was doing good at that time, all major super-stars were there(hogan, razor ramon, deisel, sting, rick flair, big show, Goldberg, macho man and many others) while at that time WWE had less super-stars and McMahon family thierself were playing roles in order to survive wwe.

If your idea of doing good was loosing multi-million dollars a month, sure they were doing great.
