That was about 2 months before suprnova got shut down so I think the heat was on at that time. Fortunately Telus told them to bugger off as they keep their clients Identities unless forced to release by a court order, which at least for the moment will not happen in Canada.
Anyways like everything else in life its only a crime if you get caught, so enjoy the free ride while it lasts.
Forget Peerguardian- once the RIAA or MPAA get on a torrent swarm (easy to do),
they can see everyone else's ip address. I use Stompsoft's StealthSurfXtreme (costs
around $29) . Easy to turn on and off and hides your ip address. I tried Anonx, then
Findnot.. they worked, but cut download speeds badly and sometimes disconnected at the wrong times. Stealthsurf cuts download speed in half (with 5mb/s hispeed DSL I'm
still in great shape ) . Peerguardian can stop the bad guys from peeking into your
shared file (used by other p2p protocols, NOT bit torrent) .
i dont think anyone would be here anymore if they got sued. Hopefully now.
Abu, these dont help with Bittorrent, protowall is just another peerguardian/ip blocker.Originally Posted by abu_has_the_power

My ISP was contacted once when I was downloading a torrent. The ISP told me to stop, I removed the torrent, and nothing more has come of it so far. It was on PirateBay - not a private tracker.
Never been caught and as a matter of fact my ISP sells the higher speed package, citing p2p as a reason to pay for the plus. I don't think I'll have anything to worry about for now. Although a local guy did get busted for downloading music off of LimeWire, but I've never heard anything in regards to anyone being busted in bittorrent.
