    i have 550MHz and i know thats not very much
    i dont know much about computers so can i upgrade my MHz or do i need to get a new computer?
    i waqnt to upgrade to atleast 800

    You could try and find your motherboard user manuel.That will tell you how much you can upgrade.

    there are several possibilities, including just replacing the processor, or the motherboard and processor. Its not necessary to buy a whole new system

    You may or may not be able to upgrade your processor.
    The first step is identifying your motherboard.
    If you don't have a motherboard owners' manual, I suggest using the Belarc Advisor. It will allow you to do an inventory of your entire computer and will tell you exactly what motherboard you have.

    P.S. turning off programs running in the background and adding memory is the easiest/cheapest way to increase performance on an older machine.
