However, only DanB knows what it is (he's seen it) 'cause I don't mention it on here - many people use their car as a status symbol, talking to these types is something which I find interminably boring. I avoid it at all costs.

I don't work out at all - I think people who lift heavy weights on a regular basis are compensating for something. Either they have a chronic lack of personality or are really fucking ugly. Well, everyone I know who is a member of a gym falls into either one or the other of those catagories ... and I know a lot of people.

Well hell, I know alot of people too. You'll be amazed at the amount of good looking people that like to keep in shape. Maybe it's an American thang.
Call it an already nice package with a bonus. God forbid a person try to keep in shape.

The point is that I don't feel the need to tell people I drive a Lincoln (I don't know what that is) or am going to get a BMW (pretty mundane car). Lots of people use cars as a status symbol, I prefer not to.

Staying in shape is one thing, I do that with football, lifting heavy weights is another. It's compensating for something else.
