Whew. I just got done watching Michael Haneke's "Funny Games," and this is a very initial reaction, but I'm blown away. I wouldn't hesitate in calling it brilliant, subversive, exciting cinema, and it got me thinking: what movies take a very in-depth, analytical look at violence, how it interacts with society, its allure, etc.? I came up with some choices; any others you'd add?

Hard boiled starring chow yun fat, the amount of gun shootings in that is something else. it has got a really high body count

Meaning the mandarin film Hero (Ying Xiong)? That show wasn't even violent all they had were sword fights and arrows, it's only rated PG .

I just finished watching Battle Royale, and it was pretty violent but it was a good movie. It's well worth the download (I got it within a couple of hours you should check it out)

The movie "The Warriors" is a darn good flick with some nice beatings! It's an old movie from the 70's or 80's, I think, but it's fucking awesome! If you havn't seen it, you better DL it or rent it! B)

Best scene in the movie is were gang members from 2 different gangs beat the living shit out of each other in a subway restroom! They virtually kill each other with baseball bats, chains and knifes! And they also break the toilets and run the other guys heads into the wall! Kinda reminds me of "The Matrix" were Morpheus fights with Agent Smith in that bathroom!
