Thread: NTFS or FAT32?

  1. #1
Just downloaded a full DVD rip but can't extract it from the RAR because the size is over 4GB and my hard drive file system is FAT32.

Anyone else still got a FAT32 partition? I've had this hard drive for a good few years and the FAT fromat is the only way I've ever formatted my drives. I'm still living in the stone age.

I hear both have advantages tho. While NTFS uses smaller clusters and is supposed to be slightly more stable in the face of power outages etc., FAT32 is also said to be a little faster. Of course, my only source for this is a quick Google search. I haven't got a clue personally.

Anyone else as ignorant as me when it comes to hard drives?

as soon as I moved to an OS that supported ntfs I never went back. There's no reason to.
