Try the twisted end at the drive with the red stripe closest the floppy's power connector.
    Reverse if needed.

I did not know that floppies were jumpered.
Pretty sophisticated for a device that uses a disk of waxed paper as the storage media.

The red line (pin1) goes on the other side to an IDE device, so it's to the right when looking at the drive from the front.
Plug the cable's 'flipped' end into the floppy and the other to the mobo.

I have a floppy drive with no jumpers, and the power connector is above the data connector.

Should I turn the cable round at both ends?

I checked out the floppies at work yesterday.
Of the twenty or so I inspected, not one had provision for jumpers.

    Just thought I'd mention it.

I've seen some floppy drives that have jumpers internally. They can only be accessed by removing the cover.

    Which presumably voids the warranty.
