Half Life only cost me 30 bucks when i bought it a year ago, just buy it and d/l CS. It probable only costs 15-20 bucks now

So if I`m getting this right, you can buy Halflife for like 15-20 Bucks, then download counter strike for free and then you`re set to play the game online legally?

99.9% of the time, any key u find online, or a keygen generates, if it works, is going to be in use... so its pretty pointless to try and use a pirated key...

Basically, you need version 1.1.0.8 or 1.1.0.9 of Half-life, AT LEAST, to be able MOD it with counter-strike. I'm not absolutely certain about the versions that are compatible but they are related. For instance, a older version of Counter-strike works well with an older version of HL.

I'm playing Retail version of CS right now although I used to have HL modded with CS. To be sure, just download the latest versions of everything. I don't particularly nother to go find out about the newest updates, just as long as the game server I'm playing on is compatible. It will automatically prompt for an update if ever your client is outdated.

My versions are as follows: Half life V1.1.1.0
Counter-Strike v1.5, aka v1.0.0.5

Most online servers update this as soon as patches appear, so you will be safe playing with those versions.
http://www.counter-strike.net has heaps of mirrors for the MOD version of counter-strike. Download and updtae your half-life client to V1.1.1.0, then download the newest CS MOD v1.0.0.5 off the site which I reckon would be 80mb-110mb or so.

And, Keygens don't work particularly well if you want to play online. Although my Friend got lucky once and actually got a working cd key then authenticated with WON. Keygens only make HL or CS work offline, playing online is a totally different thing. I sugeest buying an original copy of HL or CS if you want to enjoy the game, because it only gets fun when you play other ppl online. Although Bots with high Cvars are pretty fun too.
