Has anyone come across password protected RARs on newsgroups?
What's the point?
Or I am missing something (noob on NGs)

It happens sometimes.
Why?
Probably because they want it to be be friends/community only.
hmm...asspie
If you take alook at the NFO it should be there usually as some just do it by choice...
they probably can't read the nfo if it's protected. is there a url in the filename? most times it's that.
The ones Ive seen on Usenet have had seperate nfo files not in the rar so you could read it...
yep! Re-searched for the NZB and there it was in the NFO file. Along with a disclaimer - blah, blah, blah.
Thanks all for the replies
As an aside, this is a pain when groups do that...I understand the thought process (keep it inside the group), but unless the passwords kept in a private forum, there's not much point to it

It's often used to attract people to join a forum in order to get the password. I guess the point is to get more members.there's not much point to it
