    I know a cpl ppl in some bad motorcycle accidents.... 2 dead, one paralyzed partly, and then there's 2 others... one saw his own guts wrapped around a pole or tree or w/e it was and is fine now, and the other who was in a coma for a long time, and they thought he would be paralyzed and unable to talk... but he's fine too... just a little slow and not very good in social situations, in the sense that the part of his brain that tells him not to say certain thoughts out loud doesn't work, lol. (makes for some uncomfortable moments if you don't know him very well)
