i run a lan with over 1000 users so we have a lot of comps on it that i and my staff have to fix if something gos wrong with them

we have resently tryed out 50 amd based comps and have found that they are too much trobble. out of the 50 we tryed 3 had the amd prossesers go bad with in 1 year
not only this but we found that there was 3 times the amount of service call on the amd based comps. all though not all ways hardware related most of the calls seem to come during the winter months when users where using space heaters in there cubes. the comps all have there own sepret isolated ground electric system so it not a power problem. my theroy is that it was due to heat problems. we have got rid of every amd system we had and will not buy any more

we have never had a pentium go bad ever in the 5 years i have be the admin
so my recomendation is to go with the pentium as they are much more reliable

but this said the amd is cheeper so if ur gona keep upgrading the cpu say every 6 months or so u might want to go with a AMD
but if u want it to last till its just so obsolet that u have to get a new comp go with the pentium

So, it really comes down to a question of durability, not speed?
In that case I would put my $ on Intel
