can anyone recommend me some good software for creating a simple decision tree diagram.
I have looked around but they either completly suck or are way too complicated for what i want.

you can use microsoft visio 2003. I've used that and it makes it pretty easy.

that's why you have to do the custom installs with m$ products so you can choose what to install. it's a great program for what you're doing, as well as flowcharts and other types of diagrams. enjoy.
