Do you want to gain to muscle or fat? Your body's metabolism is so high that when you eat, your body burns it quickly. You need to eat more protein AND hit the gym hard. You will add muscle. Your body will always want to repair the "damage" caused by weightlifting and make your muscles stronger. You also want to eat ALOT of carbs (complex sugars) but I don't how this fits in with you being diabetic. Before eating lots of carbs ask your doctor what's up.
The reason you want lots of carbs is 'cause your body will need the energy. You don't want your body to start using your muscle as energy.
