i bought a samsung 160 gb hard drive.i already have a samsung 80 gb drive and it has fat 32 partitions.i formatted my 160 gb into ntfs partitions.then i booted from my 80 gb cause i don't have ne operating system in 160 gb.now after bout 5-6 hours 3 out of 4 partitions on samsung 160 gb vanished on their own and it started showing 141 gb free space in the disk management.
it is like the hdd formatted on its own.all my 20 gb data wuz lost in a flash.
i repartitioned it and it worked fine for sum time but then it showed me a msg that one of my drives needs to b formatted before i kin use it.i had to format it again.dunno y this is happening.i use windows xp pro and windows 98.both of the operating systems r on my samsung 80 gb.
nothing happens to the samsung 80 gb from which i boot so there can't be a boot sector virus.btw i have nod 32 antivirus installed and it ain't showing ne virus.help me plzzzzz

You need to be aware that
    1. Win98 does not recognise drives bigger than 137GB
    2. Win98 does not support NTFS

If you've been accessing the drive using Win98 you may have damaged the partitions.

Make sure your Motherboard BIOS supports 48-bit LBA. If not, 137GB is your limit until you update your bios. Goto you MB website and check for the lastest bios version for your board. And what lynx stated.

If you could see the full size of the drive in XP then no bios update is needed.
