Post Counts

What is the logic behind not counting posts in the "social" section toward your total post count.

I have minimal point and click computer knowledge and so I can't really provide a lot help in the other forums. Heck, I haven't even bothered to figure out what a "hash" is.

All I do is allow people to download from my computer, almost 24/7 and I have ripped all my CDs and placed them in my "shared files" folder.

Being "social" helps to establish a sense of community, which helps keep a solid population base. So I feel that people who are strictly social do contribute indirectly by helping to keep people here and encouraging new arrivers to settle here.

I don't really care about my post count, just wondering about the logic.

The lounge and funny stuff is where we can all unwind and let loose. Take a look at some of the threads started. Take "worlds biggest spam" thread. Can you imagine the post count of some of the users who have posted in there? The stars would'nt fit on the screen!!! Most of the threads/posts (in the lounge/funny stuff) have no real value to the community other than light entertainment or, as you said, there purely for social communication.

hobbes does have a point, and I have to agree.

Not enough stars? Then put a cap on the stars. K-Lite has a 1000 cap on the participation points. you can still place the total number of points.
