    Question Mark

Ok, there are three sticks of DDR Ram. Now I'm wondering which combination would put out the most output.

    They are:

    256MB DDR PC2700
    256MB DDR PC3200
    512MB DDR PC3200

    Now,
    I could have 768MB of PC3200 speed
    -or-
I could have 1GB of an average speed between the 75% PC 3200 and 25% PC2700.
(or was it just 2700 for all the RAM? I'd like to know more about the speeds and how the work together)

Which would be faster and overall better?

I can't really go buy an extra 256MB of DDR3200 right now, so I'm just wanting to use either configuration for the time being.

Thanks, I was using all three last time and am looking foward to a little boost. My mobo hasn't arrived yet, so I sit here and wait...using a friend's computer.

    PC3200 runs at 400MHz.
    PC2700 runs at 333MHz.

Don't add the PC2700 because it will slow them all down to 333MHz.

if u mix up pc3200 and pc2700, all your ram will run @ pc2700

is your mobo dual channel capable? some require the matched pairs be used in color-coded slots on the board itself.

if not, using matched pairs is preferred anyways. performance may be better than addng that stick of 512mb of memory you have.(regardless of the clock speed)

speaking of which, is you memory frequency adjustable? matching your memory clocking to that of your fsb in a 1:1 ratio is ideal and works best with matched pairs of memory. (remember quantity is only necessary if you require large amounts of memory, a whole different discussion altogether)

those questions beg to be answered before deciding what to do.

    my .02¢

    good luck
