    I'm using an AMD Sempron 64 2800+ 1.65GHz with a 800MHz FSB.

Currently, the CPU is running at 1.65Ghz with 200Mhz FSB.

Is it safe to just up it to 800Mhz FSB so I can get full performance?

    ummm......no.
if you upped the FSB to 800 MHz, if it would let you, you'd blow that poor Sempron into next week

if you're at 1.6 GHz on a 200 FSB setting, I'd say your multiplier is set at 8
if you upped it to 800, I doubt it's possible, but say you could....
    you'd have a 6.4 GHz monster

-edit- to make a long story short.....don't try it
try going up maybe 5 MHz, if it takes it, maybe try another 5 MHz, etc...
I don't know about the Sempron 64s, but maybe you can play with the multiplier as well
but fucked if I know if you can get it below 8

ah, I see. Well I don't need to extra speed after all. I found my games run "much" faster when I play around with Nvidia's application settings. I've set up custom profiles for all my games and they all run in the 60-80s when it comes to frames per second. good stuff.

800MHz FSB is the HyperTransport speed.
200MHz is the external clock speed.

The HT speed is a multiple of the external clock speed, default 4x or 5x depending on the motherboard and cpu; obviously 4x in your case.

The Athlon 64 3000+ runs at 1.8 GHz as standard, so 1.65 GHz for the Sempron 2800+ sounds about right.

Well, my new 7800GT video card is so fast the CPU doesn't slow down my fps one bit.
Kinda wish I went with the 939 socket mobo instead, but that was a little overboard my expenses. I'll save up for later and sell this current one on ebay like I always do with my old parts. Muhohahaha.
