You shouldn't always just beg people to come to your forum. Even if you can get them in, they just do nothing. Thats what happend to me with my PHP forum. Had about 60 users with 0 posts for over a month. Plus tis not complete yet. So why should people join?

I think that if you allow guests to post you'll get more traffic, most people don't like to register before posting.
VB allowed guests to post all over the board until he broke the 4000 members barrier.
