i dont think x850xt has pixel shader 3.0. Get a 7800gt, it'll last you much longer. Also eVGA is shipping me a free copy of quake 4, plus eVGA comes with life time warranty . Oh and yeah, you need atleast a 450w power supply to run it. I recommmend an antec smartpower 2.0 500w powersupply for 70$. I really wouldnt recommend an amd 3500. amd 3000 can easily be overclocked to the performance of the 3500, so you'd be saving yourself some good money...

get what you can for now, the X850 should be fine, and,
later if you want to go heavier on gfx,
well by then the X1800 will be further along in development,
then you can look at high end cards from both ATi and nVidia,
and decide what suits you best
