Thread: filesharing with STATIC IP - is that dangerous??

    Is there any way to disguise the IP. Any software which we can use.
    How effective is this?

    hi

    im a newbie to all this

    i use a router , which is prt forwarded but i dont know anything about proxy ????? what is it , what does it do and how do i set it lol ....my downloads are ever sooooo slow 5 - 10 kB/s ....im wondering if this could be my problem !!

    well if you now go an use a proxy, then you should manage, let me see, erm 2.5 / 5 kbs. if you are lucky....There are so many variables, so maybe it would be a good idea to start you own thread, state what file-sharing program you are using what sort connection etc. etc... and post it in the right forum, where the eggsperts, will be hanging around to help you..

    Kind of, but worthwhile to add is that all ISPs are obligated by law in most countries to keep track of what account uses what IP at any given time. So it's not like they have to do any extra work if you're on dynamic at all.
