I have no interest in seeing Brokeback Mountain but have been paying attention to the media phenomenon it has become.

I have heard that it is basically about two cow-pokes (...sorry) who discover an irresistable though unintended attraction for each other.

Their relationship ultimately breaks up two families, which events are cinematically depicted with all due attention to the accompanying heartbreak and strife.

The ironic part is, if the protagonists were a male and female pursuing a heterosexual affair, it wouldn't be worth a hum-drum Thursday night TV movie.

Make them gay, add a cum-shot and we are awash in "Oscar" chatter.

    A simple-enough formula, I guess...
"Researchers have already cast much darkness on the subject, and if they continue their investigations, we shall soon know nothing at all about it."

    Don't fret, that's a good sign.

    Perhaps.

Young Hannah McGill of the Glasgow Herald gave it a good review and generally I have found that she has sound judgement on the movie front. So there is a fair chance it is a good movie.

The Oscars could of course go for a family movie like The Chronicles of Narnia (which Hannah also highly recommended) - not sure how Holywood is on family movies these days though.

Personally I couldn't care what critics think.

I don't really like "heart-warming love stories" so this movie is definitely not one I'd care about.

On a different note, I did like the Chronicles Of Narnia no more than I liked LOTR. It was snazzy with the special effects but was also a snorefest.
