Most audio editing tools (including Sound Forge) decode files before you edit them and when you save them again as mp3s they are encoded again, which results in much reduced quality.
I'd recommend using mp3DirectCut, mainly because it allows you to edit and save mp3s without re-encoding.

mp3 trim doesnt do that. It just cuts from the beggingin or the end
