for some reason when i play a dvd on my laptop it jumps well its like its but buffing enuff to play it like when u watch a clip off a site and its downloading slow it jumps like that and its all the time, same with sound on it.

this is with every dvd i have burnt, but they work fine on the dvd player.

i have tryed dvd-r's and just dvds that i have converted.

does anyone know how i can fix this?

Maybe your laptop isn't fast enough to play dvds. Do you know the specifications of your laptop at all? ie pentium, amd what speed, how much ram etc, are you running xp on it?
basically if your laptop is not really fast enough to play dvds as it stands you can either try messing around in software or upgrading hardware. If you post back with details of your laptop someone should be able to point you in the right direction.

Get the latest codecs for the program you're using to play the dvd's.

Not without knowing what program you're using.

I would suggest installing Cyberlink Power DVD6, it's a top quality player.

ill try installing Cyberlink Power DVD6 see if that helps at all

edit: well it seems that it isnt a codec problem but the dvd drive isnt reading the dvd fast enuff some reason its reading the dvd at 0.82x when it can do 8x, right now im using a cd i got with the laptop so it reinstalls loads of the hardware/software. hopefuly this will fix it.
