I am having issues with my connection speed. It has gone down by half. I have a Linksys WRT54G v2 with v4.20.8 HyperWRT 2.1b1+tofu6.2 firmware.

I don't really know what to do cause i am new to having a router, and i read WRT54G has issues, and i want to know how to fix em.

    No it's a Linksys.

How do you know that the speed has slowed by half and how do you know it's caused by the router?

    Is that official Linksys firmware?

    Listen to VB.

I can't think of Linksys having that type of difficulty apart from wrongo firmware or bunged-up settings.

I have two Linksys'; a WCG200 and a WRT54G for use here and there, and I could only effect the '54 by playing with the security settings/encoding (which I recovered from without calling for help), and the cable gateway '200 has been faultless, apart from a connection dropout when the DL speed breaks about 300k/sec.

That last is a bit curious, but I've only had to re-boot the router about 4 times in 8 months, so...

I don't know if it is caused by the router, I guess it isnt cause i hooked the modem directly to my pc and got the same speeds. I am suppose to have speeds aroung 600kb/s, and now I am getting speeds of around 100kb/s.

    Is that official Linksys firmware?
    No, it modified firmware

So. It's not the Linksys router that's problem then.

Now you're getting 100kb/s doing what?

Methinks you're onto something there, Chewie.

    Best bet.
