wtf is dying now?

starting to get a wavy display,
like, more frequently now even....

like I'm looking at a heat mirage or something
you know how you look at a hot roadtop in the distance,
and it looks all shimmery/wavy?

that's what my f*cking monitor is displaying now

I tried some googling, but only thing I found was related to an old gfx chipset running Win95
it mentioned the refresh rate, so I said what the hell and tried that,
going from 85Hz to 75Hz

it seems to be getting worse instead of better

I'm wondering if the bow in my gfx PCB has anything to do with it?
(putting the Zalman on it warped the shit out of it I think)

or would this be a monitor related deal? it is pretty old.....

Probably monitor related.
Try moving it away from speakers and such that might be around it, and try the degauss button if you have one (or try turning it off and on, or off for a while).

Do you have any magnetic field sources near the monitor? Maybe speakers or something? Move them away.

Does your monitor have a degauss feature? Try using that.

nah, no magnetic sources....unless my TI calculator is one bad mofo

I get that with my servers cuz the monitors for each are side by side, and when theyre both on, one of them gets wavy, but they are hardly ever on, so..........

(I actually have some kind of clue about the degaussing now, google is great)
shut it down overnight instead of letting it go into standby

my old crt moniter used to do that, i found it was actually heat related...so i just got this lcd because it was pissing me off...see if it i s heat related next time it happens turn the moniter off for few minutes come back and see if it still occurs

It definitely won't do it when the monitor is off.

my crt does that when I run the microwave sometimes (dorm room, so the microwave is three feet from the monitor.
