X700 are fairly decent agp cards and you can pick them up cheap i found mine for $180(AU).. so yeah if you are looking for cheap x700 is the way to go..

You would be well advised to save your money until you can afford a 6800GS ($200 US) which will surely come down by the time you can afford it. This will probably be the last AGP card you will have to buy and it has 12 pixel pipelines possibly 16 if you tweak it. There is also a 7800GS out now for AGP but at $300 US it would be quite some time before you could save your money or it comes down to your level.

I think you're wasting $100 on a card that will only be used for 3-4 months.
Save the money and put it towards the new build.

i agree as well. if you shortchange yourself now you'll be pissed later. get something worth having for awhile so you arent left behind quicker than you want.
