whenever i copy music from a cd using windows media player, I get this little garble of sound in the backround. the format is mp3 and i use the intervideo xpack mp3 plug-in. the bit rate was set at 128. how can i get that anoying sound out of the file?

You mean ripping Music?If so...get rid of Windows Media Player.
Go here.....Guide For Making High Quality Mp3 Files
I use another Ripper but alot of people like that one.And set your rips to 192 Bitrate or higher.....128 is no good.
