For movies to achieve true Owner status, they must fulfill a number of stringent criteria:
1, their greatness should be apparent to any reasonably-discerning first-time viewer.
2, excellent acting, writing, and directing.
3, additional nuances are revealed with each viewing.
#3 may be the most difficult, b/c there are certainly movies I enjoyed as a teenager which I now realize were typical Bruckheimer-esque twaddle. The best ones endure, however. So I would like to submit the following for the consideration of the crowd:
Batman
Fifth Element
Office Space
Swingers
Usual Suspects
Waiting for Guffman
When Harry Met Sally
