best laptop?

Im going to buy a laptop and i was wondering whats the best kind of laptop? (sony, ibm, toshiba, etc) Any laptop which you've had problems with in particular? Im looking at a laptop thats going to get used a lot and I dont want to end up buying something crappy that will break. I'd appreciate suggestions.
