Thats about the size of it on occasion I guess...I remember my first posts on this forum. I didn't want to appear a twat in front of all those people who knew each other and were so knowledgeable about filesharing and stuff. It made me pretty cautious about posting anything at all, particularly in the more social areas.

Still, I think it is often perceived that way a little when entering a new community, even if it turns out that they are actually a pretty friendly bunch on the whole.... with the occasional 'human' touch of out of order dickheadedness of course

That's about right, and on balance, quite appropriate.

We don't haze newcomers, but they have to strut whatever they've got before we'll pick on them, at which point they can be said to have arrived.

Some are all assholes and elbows (a certain fellow comes to mind), and become entrenched before we think to vet them retroactively.

I always thought I went out of my way, though, to recruit sArA for WN&E (now the Drawing Room), and make her feel welcome; we badly needed her strawberry-blonde influence.

That picture she volunteered didn't hinder things at all, either.

It seems a person may hate this thread 'cause they might think they are insulting and feel the need to defend themselves.

I've been me from day 1 (I actually was worse early on) and this was my first forum. I think folks should jump right in with no hesitation.

I think everyone here, git or not, is good for this board. It is entertainment with a touch of enlightenment.

I remember remarking that you becoming a mod would probably make you post more and it has.
