    Anyone know anything about it?
The WIBU-KEY is a small device that fits into one of the USB ports of a computer. If all of your
USB ports are in use, you can purchase a USB hub to create 4 or more USB ports out of one
USB port. The WIBU-KEY is used to manage licenses. The amount of licenses a firm owns is
programmed into the WIBU-KEY. A WIBU-KEY is then plugged into any computer on a network.
When a user runs GeoGraphics, GeoGraphics checks the WIBU-KEY to see if a license is
available. If there is one, the program runs normally. If not, the user is prompted with a message
stating that all license are in use. You may install GeoGraphics on as many computers as you
like – and let WIBU-KEY monitor its use.
From what I gather from that, it's only needed in large network enviroments. For the life of me, I can't remember installing this.

Anyone know if it's safe to remove?

are you running any software that requires it?

    seems that it's GeoGraphics related.....

Nothing that I'm aware of. Just noticed it though, not sure how long it's been here.

well I just had a chance to google "wibu key"
it's not limited to GeoGraphics (I was just going by your quote when I said that)

    http://wibu.com/start.php?lang=en

that's their home page^ if you want to take a look at it
seems they are independant licensing/access protection/etc etc

before you remove it, I would say verify that you don't need it
if you do have some application that requires the loading of the license,
then you could render the application unusable

we use USB & network keys at work, but nothing from WIBU that I'm aware of
with some of our applications, if a user screws off his license,
I have to provide them with a new one or else they cannot use the related application, period
most times it's copying a configuration file to their workstation,
which is a simple fix, but we know where to find said files
(and we also know that we installed the license)
at this point it seems that you don't, so it wouldn't hurt to investigate it
