I like the System tweaks and cache cleaner/ regcleaner type programs the best . Anything that makes it easy ,theres no excuse not to perform maintenance on your computer.

Just run a spyware proggy every month or so when i remember, and have diskeeper defragmenting at night at 3am while i'm asleep.

I'm the only one that uses my comp nowadays, so i don't really need to worry about spyware and viruses all that much. (still check for 'em, but not worried about it ).

Yep one of my fav.'s like Crapcleaner , Diskeeper or JV16 Power Tools . But some of the best Maint. programs are free too . Its nice to know how to do it manually but who has the time and you miss so many crap files .

Someone who says they they don't do maintenance must not update their Antivirus or spyware programs either .

Speaking of Antivirus, I've seen atleast 4 computers now running a copy of Norton Antivirus with an outdated licence (OLD definitions!).
Each one of those people told me their Anti-virus protects them! What a mess!!!

I put NOD32 (10000000+ days license patch lol) on two of them...uninstalling the dead copy of Norton. The user obviously had some trial crap going on there.

maybe every fortnight i run jv16 and tuneup utilities and if i remember, maybe once a month on adaware and spybot and ccleaner. And when i empty my pc out a little after weeks/months of downloading do i run perfectdisk. I'm not really lazy but i'm not obsessed with maintenance. But i do feel good after doing some maintenance...dunno why lol.

I don't usually use antispyware programs to catch spyware and such. Instead, I regularly check processes, startup list, and alll the various folders where spyware likes to hide. anything that doesn't belong gets removed. every once in a while I run an anti spyware program to make sure that I am not missing anything. If I run into any problem that will take over half an hour to fix, my partions and such are set up so that I can start my unattended Windows install and reinstall.
Plan for the worst, hope for the best
