    I have a choice between a 15.4" widescreen laptop and a 17" laptop.
Which do you think is the better choice?
    The 15.4" widescreen specs:
    AMD Turion(TM) 64 ML-40 (2.2GHz/1MB L2 Cache)
    15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen
    128MB ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory
    1.0GB DDR
    80GB
    CDRW/DVD
    54g(TM) 802.11a/b/g WLAN
    8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

    all for $1,079

The 17" one is $100 more, with 200mhz less CPU speed and 20GB less hardrive space.

Which would prove to be the better choice?

Can always add a 21inch screen on your desk(s)

Personally, I find the 17" too big for my taste. You should go to a store and test drive the screen sizes.

Are you using it mostly in the same place or mostly for portability?

    a couple of places.
Maybe even a cafe once in awhile. Hot spots sound pretty good as long as the firewalls are up and running.

I mainly need it for portability reasons. I'm gonna go with the 15.4" widescreen more than likely.

I had a 17" notebook for a while. I used it to take notes in class, you name it. I considered it plenty portable, but that's me. everyone is different. I felt that having dual harddrives and a 17" screen made it worth carrying a 12lbs laptop with four hours of battery life out of two batterys.
Plan for the worst, hope for the best
