My machine is very fast, yet MPC isn't. Obviously it's a setting that should be changed.

I've got the latest version (downloaded today).

Any tweaks you guys know of?

I'm looking to speed up the "opening" and "closing" of MPC, because it takes atleast 2-4 seconds every time! Windows Media Player closes in less than a second!
The problem is...my CPU is put to 100% load for 2-4 seconds when I open and close MPC. That really sux, because the whole system takes heat from that issue.
(I already defrag, regclean, etc...the works. No problem there. All my other software runs great.)

btw, just noticed "Save Thumbnails". Very Nice Feature Indeed.

    1.9Ghz AMD 64

    Update:
I tried opening MPC in my Barebone Gaming Installation of XP (stripped down to a 175mb installation cd, runs games much smoother) and it opened fine. I didn't install the K-Lite Codec Pack in that, but I normally install all my software on a seperate partition from windows. Do you think it's something to do with the video filters?

How do you install K-Lite Codec Pack?
I also use Zoom Player as a second media player, since it has a very nice Slow-Motion and Fast-Motion speed adjustment MPC lacks. Those two little features are pretty useful for slowing down a specific detail to show someone what they might have missed. Fast-Motion is just for fun really. Zoom Player Opens and Closes immediately, unfortunately it doesn't support window arranging. Multiple videos cannot be sorted with a right click of the startmenu, making it a real pain.
