    Hi Guys!!!

Almost a year ago I asked about patching up subs to the movie, and you gave me load of advice, but it still took me two days to end up with nothing.

Well I hope that by now there is better and easy to use program that will patch subs to .avi movie, I got .sfv, .idx and .sub files… no idea which one to use and why do I have 3 in the firs place.

    Thanks

I suppose you already have VobSub. If not get the latest version and while your at it get Virtual Dub. This will permenantly burn subs to your avi file. I suggest though, that instead of relying on posts here, you get your info from the source. Sites like Videohelp.com, Afterdawn and Doom9.org not only host a bunch of freeware open source tools but provide excellent tutorials for just about anything you want to do. In a no time at all, you will be the one telling others how to do it.

    Hi!

I finally got some time to checkout these subs… Well I have problem from the start!
I installed VobSub and virtualdubmod… And followed the instructions from Vidohelp.com.

It doesn’t want to open my video:
[!] Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'XVID' (unknown).
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to
decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media
Player, are not suitable. Only 'Direct stream copy' is available form this
    video.

    What does this mean?

Why is this so complicate? Didn’t get any easier from the last time.

Suggest you download and install the latest K-Lite Mega Codec pack.

Available here, last full release was April 23, updated today (June 15).

    Try the new WinAVI 7.6

Make sure the sub file is in the same folder as the movie,
    and named exactly the same.
    (ie. Movie1.mpg Movie1.sub)

it will automaticaly had the sub file
    To DVD/SVCD/VCD
