I read a whole 500 page book on the shapes on Mars. Written by a (not mental!) Egyptologist called Graham Hancock.
The book finished with the conclusion that the weird stuff is probably naturally occuring but those pesky yanks should have investigated it properly with that probe (forgotten what it's called) when it was taking the pictures.
