It will be based on Gecko 1.9 (the current Mozilla trunk). We are currently brainstorming about various user interface improvements to take advantage of the advanced graphic rendering work being done for Gecko 1.9. Most Thunderbird 2 feature work lands on the trunk first and then onto the 1.8 branch.

    Will it require a lot of visual power?

    I use a older computer (700 MHz POS, 486 MB of RAM, onboard video), will it struggle?

    i dont think so.. its pretty stable to. i have it open all day and no memory leaks and nothing of that sort , it feels like the final release

    its an email client not doom3.
